Blurb / Spiel

You might know me as Tim Gould. After quite a lot of travel, I'm back in Sydney, Australia, where I was born and raised. We have even bought a house here, in Penshurst. I have been computing since the age of five or so, due to the fact that my father is very interested in the field and has worked in it for quite a few years.

I used to have a whinge here about how I wanted to get out of Sydney eventually - well, with my favourite-girl-in-the-world Liz, we actually did it! Find out all about it here at the weblog we kept.

And even more exciting, I proposed to Liz on the 14th of November 2004, and she even said yes! We were married on February 18th, 2006, followed by three and a half months honeymooning around Europe.

I completed my Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology at Sydney Uni at the end of 2000. A fun time overall, but I'm glad to be out of the 'Education' system.

Examples of my uni work are in the software section. Please bear in mind that most of this was written at 2am when the deadline was 9am, so don't expect production quality code :)

I currently work for the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority as a Technical Developer. What this means, I have never quite been sure, but I do a lot of UNIX SysAdmin, installation, configuration, scripting (Perl, ksh), and a bit of C/C++/Java programming. Quite diverse, which is why I like it.

For six months or so in London, I was the primary Solaris System Administrator for the production Image system of the London Congestion Charge. I also wrote lots of little pieces of code to make people's life easier, or at least encourage them to understand that Linux/perl/php/MySQL/Macs are good.

Net-wise, I usually use the handle reverb (hence the name of these pages). I have accounts on various places around the net under various names, so if you see me, you see me. Generally if you see a reverb, it's a fairly safe bet that it's me. There are a few others across the world who also use this nick. You get that.
