Blurb / Spiel

You might know me as Tim Gould. I'm from Sydney, Australia, where I was born and raised. My wife Liz and I first bought a house in Penshurst and lived there for a few years, but have now commenced the biggest plan of our lives - purchasing a five-acre block of land on Razorback South-West of Sydney and building on it.

Before 2002 I had a whinge here about how I wanted to get out of Sydney eventually - well, with my favourite-girl-in-the-world Liz, we actually did it. Find out all about it here at the weblog we kept the first time in 2002-3.

I proposed to Liz on the 14th of November 2004, and she even said yes! We were married on February 18th, 2006, followed by three and a half months honeymooning around Europe.

We now have a gorgeous (but challenging!) five-and-a-half year old girl Phoebe, who was joined by William in August 2010 and then Cameron in June 2013.

I have been computing since the age of five or so, due to the fact that my father is very interested in the field and has worked in it for quite a few years.

I completed my Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology at Sydney Uni at the end of 2000. A fun time overall, but I'm glad to be out of the 'Education' system.

I currently work for Transport for NSW as Manager Networks. I was withp previously with RTA / RMS for years, moving through roles, and this latest puts me in charge of technical design for multi-million dollar systems both within the RTA and external organisations we interface with. No, I can't get points back on your licence.

For six months or so in London, I was the primary Solaris System Administrator for the production Image system of the London Congestion Charge. I also wrote lots of little pieces of code to make people's life easier, or at least encourage them to understand that Linux/perl/php/MySQL/Macs are good.

Net-wise, I usually use the handle reverb (hence the name of these pages). I have accounts on various places around the net under various names, so if you see me, you see me. Generally if you see a reverb, it's a fairly safe bet that it's me. There are a few others across the world who also use this nick. You get that.
