I love how you install a rainwater tank in the middle of a drought and then we have a flood.
The last time we had decent rain was just after I bought a convertible. Fate, why do you mock us so!! I went with Origin 100% solar electricity when I moved into my new flat a few weeks ago. Haven't had a bill yet (apparently it's a bit more expensive) but am enjoying being able to run my plasma guilt free. Might look into buying some carbon offsetting trees to make up for my car (she's only a 1.6 so it shouldn't be too painful). Unfortunately, can't do much about the water seeing as I live in a flat. Have been more focussed on keeping the stuff out of my flat over the past few days than conserving it. Old wooden windows + Raining sideways = Seepage. Where do you get biodiesel? I've never seen it anywhere. Apparently they make a Lotus Elise that runs on it.
Flood has always followed drought for as long as I can remember. No matter, the fact still remains that we capture water that would otherwise be wasted. It's not like the dams are now at 75% or anything.
Nice work with Origin - they seem to be the best in the market right now, and only marginally more expensive (something like $10 per quarter. Seriously, who can't afford that to save the planet?) Carbon offsetting is an interesting topic all in itself. The fact remains that there is still carbon out there that was put there that isn't going away. You might offset some OTHER carbon, but not that. We've looked into it for our long-haul flights to Europe and that continues to play on our minds. Don't fret about living in a flat - by definition you don't have a yard to water, your heating and cooling costs are lower, and you waste less of the planet's surface than house-dwellers such as us! Good luck keeping unwanted water out. We get biodiesel from The Biodiesel Station in Marrickville, just behind Sydnenham station. There's lots of people talking about the stuff on online forums, and they recommend this place as the only place in Sydney you can buy it right now. They sell 20%, 50% and 100% biodiesel. Don't get it confused with Ethanol however, which is something you can add to Unleaded and run in a "normal" car. Biodiesel will only work in a diesel engine. That said, it will work in any diesel engine (despite what car manufacturers might say), while Ethanol will only work in some petrol engines. |

Have a quick look at the image to the right. It's from a Liverpool Champion story about Liverpool Council heavy-handedly enforcing a 10m from an intersection parking rule, violation of which results in a $197 fine. Here, two cars would be fined for not be

My parents will be quick to tell you that as a teenager I was one to spend 10-15 minutes in the shower without much thought. Why not? There's plenty of water, and power to heat it, and besides I had more important things to do like adolescence and general
